Frequently Asked Questions

Do you ever see people virtually?

Yes! In order to best serve the varying scheduling needs of our clients, we do offer a telehealth option.  We use a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform that allows us to meet virtually.  You can choose, in-person, Telehealth, or a combination of both! We will try to accommodate whatever works best for you!

Where is your office located?

Our office is located on Rte 202 in Chadds Ford. The address is:

225 Wilmington West Chester Pike
Suite 200, Office 230
Chadds Ford, PA 19317

Where do I park?

Ample parking is available on premise.  However, should the lot be full, there is overflow parking across the street by Ground Provisions.

What are your hours?

Michelle is in the office Monday to Wednesday. Pam is in the office on Thursday and Friday.

We both offer telephone or video appointments on our out-of-the-office days to provide additional scheduling flexibility.

Do you take insurance?

We do not bill insurance. We have found that being paneled with insurance companies can limit the service we can provide as well as be intrusive of your privacy. We prefer to confidentially meet your counseling needs rather than those of your insurance company. This means we are out-of-network providers. While full payment is expected at the time of service, for those that would like to file for out-of-network reimbursement, we are happy to provide a receipt with all the necessary codes and diagnostic information.

How do I pay?

Payments can be made by check, cash, Visa, Mastercard, Health Savings Account, or Flexible Spending. Payment is due at time of service.

What if I need to cancel?

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all sessions.

If you contact us less than 24 hours before your session, you will be charged $75.00 for missing your session. This fee is not reimbursable by your insurance company and will need to be paid in full at or before the time of your next session

Why am I doing this again? I’m not sure I want to talk to a stranger. Why can’t I do this alone or just talk to a friend?

You’ve landed on this site. Something isn’t working or feeling right. Sometimes we’re so deep in the forest, we can’t see the trees. Friends and family can be great! We need those relationships! Even with the best intentions, they have trouble being objective and can inadvertently add to discomfort and confusion.

What happens at my first appointment?

We know that it can be nerve-wracking to come talk to a stranger about personal things. So, our primary goal in the first session is to put you at ease. We will talk about why you picked up the phone and made this call. We will ask a lot of questions to get to know you, your situation and what you hope to get out of counseling.

Additionally, we will go over some paperwork that you will complete prior to your first appointment.

What is your approach to therapy?

You are unique and deserve an individualized approach. We endeavor to meet you exactly where you are in your struggles as well as your hopes for therapy.

We strive to build a trusting and strong working relationship. This is necessary to do the deep work of challenging negative thoughts and limiting beliefs that are keeping you stuck. (This is primarily a cognitive-behavioral approach.) While working through the deeper issues, we also want to provide you with practical support, problem-solving and skill-building.

Nothing personal, but how often do I need to see you?

We understand your concern! Of course, the frequency and length of treatment are ultimately up to you. We have noticed that clients seem to make the most progress when they are willing to commit to a consistent schedule – usually weekly in the beginning and then slowing down over time. That being said, therapy is a highly individualized process; we can talk about this when we are assessing your goals.

Is there really a couch that I lay on?

Ok, yes, there’s a couch! Here’s a peek inside our office:

Waiting Room

Counseling Office

While the couch is comfy, laying down is not required.
Most people choose to sit and maybe have a cup of tea or coffee… see next question!

Is there someplace nearby that I can get a good cup of coffee?

Our office is located right next to a Wawa, and a few minutes from Starbucks.
Grab your favorite beverage and let’s sit down and talk.
